“When children cannot find themselves reflected in the books they read,

or when the images they see are distorted, negative, or laughable, they learn a powerful lesson about how they are devalued in the society of which they are a part.”

-Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop

In a world where we are inundated with negative imagery, stereotypes and false history about Black people across the African Diaspora, our stories disrupt the negative dominate narrative that seeks to destroy how we see ourselves and how we see each other.

With the help of my two sons, we read and curate a selection of books that can serve as mirrors (a reflection) for so many, while providing windows (a look into someone else's world) for all children and communities.

Through both our current online bookstore and future bookstore on wheels, we will provide access and awareness to our stories as well as excitement and engagement around reading.

The December 2020 grand opening of our online store was only the beginning.  In 2022 we will be launching the Black Worldschoolers Mobile Bookstore! YES! A walk on, sit back and relax bookstore on wheels with programs, activities and events that center BLACK JOY & LIBERATION!

We are passionate about creating excitement and engagement around reading and equally passionate about inspiring people to build their OWN home libraries! Your book purchases, partnerships, sponsorships and donations will help make it happen!

We are curating new titles weekly for our online store, so this site will grow continuously. Check back often. We are so happy to share this journey with us. You're family now.

Providing mirrors for many and windows for all. Welcome to our world!
